Of books and stories.

I am attempting to write a story.
It's just one of those things that I was suddenly hit with when I was showering. I suddenly thought the gist of the story and had wanted to write it down. But the task is taking a far longer time than I had thought it would. It ain't easy putting those thoughts into words and I am at the brink of giving it up.

Thus, it is now on my drafts and I hadn't yet given it proper continuation or ending.

The strange part of the story that I am writing is.
It's pretty much inspired by Paulo Ceolho's The Alchemist (did I not mention that I can't spell his name?) The only book that I had taken almost a few months to read because I just wasn't initially captivated by it. (apparently now so).
As much as it was inspired it's not the same.

I guess when people write stories, it's very much like writing blogs. Everyone has a story to tell that may be somewhat similar. But the details are very much different because everyone has a different perspective and different take in life.

I had written short stories before, but I don't think I've ever posted them. (Because they are unreadable really). I just like writing them.
I like that rather "possessed" feeling you get when you catch on the gist of a story that you want to write about and you start maniacally (is there such word) writing about it till you lose steam and give it a slipshod ending (yes, my stories all have slipshod endings). The only one that I had ever written in a very private blog (which I've now closed) was only read by one other person I think. Just that I can't remember who was it that I had let on the url.
Oh bugger.

The funny thing about being inspired by The Alchemist is that, it was a book that I had read quite some time ago. So the sudden inspiration, is something I find strange.

I am however reading The Curious Incident of the dog in the night time.
Which is also a recommended bestseller that had been around for a very long time (I take a longer time catching on bestsellers)
I had seen it in the bookstores earlier and actually read abit of it initially. But it never really induce me in getting it until recently. (And I don't know why).
So I bought it right after I got my salary this month. (how pathetic)

I like it.
Though I am practicing that prolong-the-lifespan-of-the-book-so-I-save-more-money theory.
I reckon I'd finish it tomorrow.
Hah.
