Digital Life
I was lazily slumping at my pivot tabledesk this morning, when I receive news that jolted me wide awake.
The shock was so rude, I felt somewhat violated.
All because of this.
MSN Conversation in my office this morning (10:30am)
YF: Wah.
Me: ??
YF: You blog appeared on IT TIMES.
Me: -falls of desk, knocks my head on the floor and almost bled to death-
YF: It's THE STRAITS TIMES that IT TIMES.
Me: -recovered from all that bleeding- (The Straits Times got IT Times meh?) HUH?
YF: You mean I'm the first to tell you?
Me: Ya.
YF: They printed paragraphs of your NUS entry leh.
Me: -foams and sprawled on the ground-
Quite some time ago, I actually noticed that the particular entry I wrote was linked to www.tomorrow.sg
Apparently some smarty pants posted links of NUS related blogs on one of the articles. I hadn't wanted to mention about it, so as to not draw further attention to that entry that I wrote. And unlike being linked to www.trainwrecks.net. I thought this wasn't something all that bad. And honestly, it didn't really cause an influx of readers (or comments).
I worried about it for almost 2 hours this morning, after learning about it from YF.
By the way, (YF) it's Digital Life, not IT TIMES la. I realised it, because after 2 whole hours of thoughts running amok, I laid my hands on a copy of Digital Life and frantically flipped through that (for the first time in my life). I mean, who reads Digital Life (except the
The Bad
I started wondering if I should start taking pictures out of my blog, deleting links from the right side module (because some of my friends are very private people).
But that was really the least of my worries. I then started worrying if NUS will come suing my ass off, because of the harmless (it really is) comments that I made.
Then it proceeded to worrying about how big NUS was, and how their students (and/or ex students) will come hollering at me about my opinions. Especially since I am educated at a not-so-globally-preferred SIM/RMIT.
I started biting nails and pestering my friend, to give me more information about the article. But because I was busy with work, and was foaming uncontrollably. I decide to wait till after lunch before searching for the papers in office.
Somehow, the excerpts made me sound more bimbotic than I would have liked. I mean, this is the first time I am featured in the local papers. Couldn't it have been more professional or intelligent-sounding?
Something more serious than flippant?
The Good
I doubt girls (who are usually the more vindictive of the 2 sexes) will read Digital Life. Thus, it won't spread like wildfire, (read: gossips)
The entry was not sex related. The only videos that were featured are rated G, suitable for all ages. So I won't be flooded with visitors.
It's Digital Life lor, not Newpaper or The Straits Times itself.
Since nobody will probably read that small write-up in that relatively unknown Digital Life, nobody would conclude that I am bimbotic.

You know, I would have appreciated if Ms Yang Huiwen informed me of it before I find out about it from YF. Even though it was such a small and meaningless write-up, I thought it would only be polite to be informed in advance. You could at least tag me, so I can remove pictures and perhaps close my blog.
Because YF likes to blow things up a notch and had me scared shitless, I would have preferred to have the advantage of knowing something like this first. Instead of learning about it from friends.
So I can coolly say, "yeah, I've read it"
Instead of falling off my desk the way I did.
Nevertheless, this woke me up.
It really did.
