Sheep in lamb clothing
I picked this phrase up from an ex-colleague who uses it to describe people who are of a "lower class" trying to be something higher up.
I find it funny.
Why is it sheep in lamb's clothing. Is the sheep of a higher class than the lamb? So if I am a sheep, I would prefer to be a lamb?
I honestly don't know what the difference between sheep and lamb (not that it matters to me, cos I don't eat lamb and/or sheep)
Anyhow, a quick search on google gave me this.
So go on, read it and find out for yourself the difference.
Still, I don't get the "sheep in lamb clothing" thing.
Whatever.
What I had wanted to really talk about is the notion behind that phrase, and not how it came about. So
First, let me give you some examples of sheeps in lamb clothings.
Say you are stupid. (hypothetically speaking, this ain't a personal attack) And you try very hard to make yourself look intellectual. Now that is for me a classic case of a sheep in lamb's clothing.
I don't know, I think the definition varies. Some will insist that it is only within the "societal class system" boundaries. But I personally would like to include the intellectual aspects as well. Because as we all know, being "high cRass" doesn't mean you're smart. It just means you are up there smelling the roses, whilst the rest of us are down there smelling the fart.
(Note: This applies to NUS's "globally preferred" advertising campaign. They should really just be a sheep and ditch the lamb's clothing)
Secondly, after giving you an example. I think it is important to share with you guys what I feel about people who find themselves in the "sheep" position.
Let's say you recently evaluated and find yourself in the "sheep" position. What should you do? Or rather, what should you do to prevent yourself from making the mistake of being a "sheep in lamb's clothing". How, to not wear lamb's clothing?
In order not to do so, I think it is important to acknowledge your position. You should be forthright in your self evaluation. Be honest!
If you realise you are sheep, don't bother lamenting your fate and wondering why you are sheep.
Acceptance is key, my friend.
Once, you've accepted the fact that you're sheep, love yourself and your "sheep" position. Then, you'd not try too hard to be a lamb.
Then again, if you realise you are stupid, I honestly wonder how you are going to convince yourself to accept that.
Finally, still on this topic of sheep in lamb's clothing, what better way to conclude then to provide a solution for all those out there who are in the "sheep" position and are currently trapped in it. Well, naturally you're trapped. Because even though you're sheep, not all sheeps want to wear lamb's clothing.
What's so good about being a lamb anyway?
Thus, a viable solution is to improve your standing as a sheep.
Say, you realise you are a sheep, you've accepted that you're sheep. Instead of living comfortably in status quo, you should instead improve your standing as a sheep.
Be a more productive sheep for instance. Or a more creative sheep, etc etc. (I am not a sheep man, I don't know what else can sheep do). Learn to sing/dance bla bla bla.
Just not waste time trying to be someone/something you're not (aka, wear lamb's clothes)
The moral of the story?
If you're a sheep, don't go trying to wear lamb's clothes. Instead improve yourself and make your clothes worth something. So the lambs would want to wear yours instead.
Be a different sheep!
** You know, I honestly think I should go write a book with all these dumb theories of mine. I might get some profits out of it.

This entry anyhow is inspired by real-life accounts of "sheeps in lamb clothing". I see them everyday. Sometimes, I feel drawn into their world and sucked into their make-believe fantasy. The lures of a lamb's clothing seems somewhat too hard for me to bear. Yet at the same time the sheep part of me fights to remain one whole of a sheep.
The underlying reason why I am led to this topic is because of the people around. Actually, come to think of it, this underlying reason is the MAIN reason why I am even bothering to spend time blogging about this topic altogether.
Although the reasons are probably less classic a case of "sheep in lamb's clothing" it is still laudable.
Simply put.
Stop trying to alter the perceptions of others. Painting a pretty picture of yourself, your intentions, your heart, your whatever fuck (it wasn't meant to rhyme) isn't going to make others around you less stupid.
You know who you are.
Nobody is honestly that dumbfuckingly dumb ok?
(Are you feeling sheepy now?)
It's not a crime to be stupid. But it's a crime to underestimate me and think I am stupid.
(Because I'm a hell lot smarter than you)
Baa Baa (black sheep)..
