Strange coincidences are getting the better of me.
Some time ago, (about a week or so), I had a friend's friend ask me for my mobile number. Because I haven't been into this exchange-mobile-number thing for quite some time I agreed to only exchanging MSN.
However then, that friend was persistent (in a nice way) on MSN in asking for my number.
And because at that point of time, I was reading The Alchemist I thought we should then let fate decide if we could be friends.
The first task I set for him, was for him to get my surname right.
I was almost deadsure he would not have guessed it, not because I have a very uncommon surname. But because there were only 3 chances for him to guess it wrong, and also because I was sure he would not get it. All because I assumed that mutual friend of ours would not have known. To my dismay however, on the very last chance, he called this mutual friend woke him from his sleep and worse, that mutual friend knew.
This result in the first 4 numbers (with the 9 included la).
For the remaining 4 numbers I initially suggested that I will buy 4D every weekend till I strike 4D with that 4 numbers. Then will I reveal the last 4 numbers to him. I think this is the ultimate test of fate. If it is meant to be, I will strike right?
He balked at that idea, and deemed it impossible. I then relented and went on to suggest we play another game whereby, I would reveal one number each time he got a question right. That is, I would give him a couple of lyrics and he had to guess the title of the song. Each right answer would earn him the next number of the puzzle.
When we reached the last 2 numbers, I backed out of the game and asked him to guess the last 2 numbers on his own.
Once again, he balked at that idea la.
The possibilities ranged from 0-99. Therefore, with the following 2 clues he was on his own.
1. The last number is bigger than the 2nd last number
2. The difference is 3.
He had 6 options.
And I told him to send out sms to all 6 options and wait for a reply. However, when I receive the sms, it had to be something interesting. Good enough to warrant a reply from me.
He was stumped.
Meanwhile, very strangely I received an anonymous call.
And it wasn't his number because I already had his number stored in my phone.
I assumed it was the insurance guy (again). So I let it ring.
What struck me however was the last 2 numbers of that anonymous call.
47.
The exact 2 numbers we were haggling about.
So amused I was, I had to rattle about it to him via MSN.
Me: I just received an anonymous call on my phone!
Him: So?
Me: it is freaky. Because the last 2 numbers are the exactly the same as my last 2 numbers. The ones you are trying to guess.
Him: Is it?
Me: ya!
We went on to talk about some other nonsensical stuff.
All these while, I did not receive any sms, and he stopped haggling me about the last 2 numbers.
Perhaps you would have guessed it by now la.
Then again, you have to understand I am not very bright at certain times of the day. (or not at all if you like.)
But he later revealed (after telling me how stupid I was) that he actually already had my number. And it's not because someone gave it to him. But because he used his mother's phone to call all the 6 options. And because I never picked up the call, he would never have got my number. If not for my sheer stupidity in rattling about how coincidental the whole incident was.
He though insists its fate.
I think it's stupidity.
Ugh.
Anyhow, the purpose of this entry, is not to illustrate my stupidity.

That my friend, is freaky.
And you know what?
I DIDN'T buy lor.
Even though I said I would buy 5547 and 4747.
It is only consolation prize.
But let me die can?
This was my chance to strike 4D for the first time in my life, and I messed it up.
