Blogaholic Anonymous
You know, I was thinking of how most (ok, SOME) of us are addicted to blogging.
Initially I like to think it was good. We choose to believe that blogging is thereupatic and it allows you to unblock some of the hidden feelings, vent frustrations and let out some steam.
But what if blogging is ultimately bad for the system?
You grow accustomed to pouring out your heartfelts online and start losing out on the human interaction part of life. This happens as you grow reliant on technology to "hear you out". You twirl around yourself and your problems choosing to solve them on your own than to pour them out to another.
Before you know it, you retreat into your virtual world.
I don't know about you, but this doesn't sound good to me.
We all know, that TOO MUCH alcohol is not good for anybody. The "high" one derives from drinking becomes addictive and before you know it, WHAM you are trapped in this endless cycle.
Say blogging has about the same effects.
You derive a certain "high" from the release. The more you blog, the more you seem to understand about yourself and your problems. The more you weave underlying meanings into your seemingly innocent words the greater the satisfaction. And before you know it, you become more familiar to "typing" your problems than "relating" to another. You find yourself trapped in this daily routine. The addiction to blogging may not have that significant an impact superficially. But the ripples are hidden beneath and the effects are on the long term basis.
You lose interpersonal skills, communication basics and begin to stutter.
Thus, in a bid to wipe out this crazy addiction.
We should have a blogaholic anonymous.. ala the AA (Alcoholic Anonymous).
Gather once a week in a group of addicts with a moderator and just talk about the addiction and how we can help one another
Not too bad an idea isn't it?
"Hi, I am Trixyy, yes a double y trixyy because trixy (single y) was taken up in most of the major blogsites. I use to go by the name fairystars, which I have long closed. I have been blogging for 4 years now. The last fix I had was just a couple of hours ago... I can't seem to stop blogging because it totally changed my life.
Hell, I even met my current boyfriend through my blog.
Tell me how I can get myself out of this mess.. please.."
(cue for moderator to step in and say:)
"Now, how do you think we can help Trixyy here? Let's all start it off by giving her a hug shall we? For being so brave and attending this gathering in a bid to quit blogging."
Let me know if you are interested in Blogaholic Anonymous.
I might be able to get us a moderator.
