If only..

..every weekend was like this long weekend that just passed.
Not a fan of listing activities in chrono.. I prefer to list according to the activities done.

King Kong.
This is the 2nd best movie of the year, the first being Harry Potter (GoB).. Then again, I caught only very few movies this year. (owing to the price hike) So don't take what I say about King Kong seriously.
Because Peter Jackson (the guy who brought us Lord of the Rings) was the director.. I think King Kong was pretty much similar in the sense.. it dragged unnecessarily till the movie was almost 3 hours long. Peter Jackson probably felt he needed to drag that movie so long, from previous experience with LotR
The movie's great.
With a great cast and amazing special effects.
But truly, some parts in the movie were.. unnecessary really.
I mean.. its a little over when you keep going on and on about the dinosaurs and King Kong.
We got the initial excitement.. And I think a movie director should leave us wanting a little more of action, instead of giving us too much of it.. so much so we plainly are just waiting for it to end.
Then again, its a delicate act of balance.
So its tough.

I so totally love Naomi Watts in the movie.
Although she looks scarily like Nicole Kidman (did somebody say surgery?).. but really, her screams are world-class.
And I hate it when she gives you that really pained look of hers, with tears brimming from her huge peepers..
You'd just wonder why you can't look like that when you are all upset and crying.

Oh, and Adrian Brody?
Not your typical action hero. But I like him still.
I like guys with that brooding look.
Think Jay Chou and Kwon Sang Woo.
Too much sunshine is just.. not my type.
Hah.

Shopping.
I think I shopped enough for the rest of the year.
Ok, that doesn't say much when the rest of the year's only left with less than 20 days.
But still...
Perhaps the Midnight Madness was not such a good thing afterall.
Sale's everywhere now.
From FCUK, U2, Mango, Espirit.. and particularly all the major jewelers are having 50% off storewide.
At the rate Singaporeans flooded to the jeweler's you'd think they are selling it off at Taka rates.
How easily do we all get fooled?
Especially on items like jewelry.
How can it ever be possible that jewelry shops offer 50% discount?
Haven't you ever wondered....
Isn't it more likely they mark up those prices prior to the sale.. then offer discounts to make it seemingly more attractive to all of us?

Was at Orchard on Friday.
Suntec/City Hall on Saturday.
I think I pretty much covered all the major retail outlets.
And all I came out of, was a pretty dress from Mphosis for CNY.
Yes yes yes I know of how Mphosis will do crazy sales... But the dress is all too pretty for me to leave it hanging.
It's polka dotted can.
Blowing $60 on it is totally justified (to me).

Ribs.
We had ribs on Thurs at Kenny Rogers.
If you know me enough. You'd know I don't do Chicken, Pork and Duck.
But because I am nice (and not too hungry), I thought I'd just accompany share the combo meal just so others can eat.
But boy, it tastes good.
And I never thought it would taste this nice, without the usual gagging reflexes working on me.
I became so hooked to ribs and roasted chicken..
We went to Tony Romas again on Saturday for my brother's birthday.

I love family dinners.
Not because I don't have to pay for dinner.
But its nice to sit down and have a meal together.. and talk like we used to.

Queues
From Hello Kitty to Toto.
Singaporeans are truly famed for queueing for everything that they believe in.
You believe in Hello Kitty being a collectible, you queue, fight, yell for it.
You believe in winning that 10 million cash, you queue and sweat over it.

But, can you believe in queueing to buy a fan that costs $9.90?
Some people at Suntec, Carrefour did.
They queued and sweated over a fan that costs only $9.90
Is it really that worth it?
Its scary to see so many Singaporeans standing in a straight line for a fan.
Think Hello Kitty.
It went down in history ok.
Nobody in Singapore did not know of the famous incident.
Where half of Singapore flooded to McDonald's for that Hello Kitty.
But for a fan?

Queue/ MoS
The plan was to head down to Ministry of Sound yesterday.
We walked from Suntec to Clarke Quay.
How bad can it be right?
I know Club Momo's scary.. but MoS can't be that bad.. Afterall, its twice the size of Zouk.
The queue at MoS when we were that at 11pm.
Its probably 5 times as long as the queue at Club Momo.
I am not very sure. Its just a rough estimate.
Afterall, when I saw the queue snaking to both sides of the road.
I blacked out.

I never knew Singapore had that many late night folks.
I didn't know that many Singaporeans clubbed.
I am not a fan of queues.
I'd rather sleep than to queue, or pay more than to queue.

So the change of plans had us walking from MoS to Double O.
You'd think it'll be empty when the opening of MoS, and the snaking queue.
But still, it was relatively crowded.
What's with Singaporeans?
They no longer stay home and play Monopoly/Scrabble?

I am still feeling woozy from yesterday.
And its 5pm already.
Its times like this, when you swear this time is going to be your last.

Carebears.
I added Harmony Bear to my Carebear collection.
Not that I want to collect Carebears.
Just that some are too cute to turn down.
And so, Carebear bought me the Harmony Bear.. its uber cute, because Harmony Bear is dressed up in a pink bee costume.
Will post pictures tomorrow when I am suffering from the Monday Blues.
But really, Harmony bear is the sweetest..

Went to catch Carebears at Suntec on Saturday as well.
I thought it was going to be a musical.. But instead, it was just a Meet-and-Greet for kids.
I so wanted to go take pictures with the huge cuddly bears can.. but some sissy had to chicken out and get cold feet.
Bah.
